A Word from the Pastor……
Do you need a
mulligan? I guess I better explain what
it is first so that you will know if you need one or not, A mulligan is a golf term that basically
means the golfer gets a second chance to do things right. For instance if a golfer is hitting his first
shot on a hole and he hits it into a lake, he would want a mulligan so that he
could hit his ball in the fairway like he is suppose to. Did you know that God is a God of mulligans? It may sound strange but it is true. You can look at the lives of Bible
characters such as Moses, Jonah, Paul, and even the nation of Israel to see
that God is the God of second chances, or a God of mulligans. Has God spoken to you about something and
you failed to respond to Him the way He asked?
Do you know that God wants to work through you in a way but you don’t
want to let Him? Have you fallen short
of the command to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, and with all your mind? What
about the command to love others as yourself?
If you answered yes to any of these questions or just know that you
haven’t been pleasing God then you need a mulligan. Isn’t it great to know that even when you mess up God wants to
give you another chance to get it right?
So how do you use a mulligan?
Simple, you ask God to forgive you of your sins as it says in 1 John 1:9
and you repent, or turn away, from what you did that you know you shouldn’t
have done or do what God asked you to.
The Bible tells us that God will forgive us and cleanse us from all
unrighteousness when we confess our sins to Him (1 John 1:9). God wants a relationship with you, not
religion. He wants to talk to you,
reveal Himself to you, and work through you.
But in order to that you must be willing to make Him Lord of your life
and do everything He asks you to. When
we do that it is like the golfer hitting his drive right down the middle of the
fairway. But always remember, if you
miss the mark (sin) you can always ask God for a mulligan. One final note, it is always wise to use
your mulligan wisely. If God gives you
a second chance make sure you take advantage of it.

Ask The Pastor……….
Every
month Pastor Justin will take questions
that have been submitted to him and
answer them here in our Ask the Pastor column. Should you have a question you would like answered please E-mail
him at
JND4CHRIST@JUNO.COM
Or
send it to the editor at sdewwjd@yahoo.com
I know this column is called
“Ask the Pastor” but every now and then it is nice to do something
different. This time I have a question
for all of you
Question: What is God saying to you about East End? What do you think is going well? What needs to be improved? What needs to be changed? What do you see God doing here at the
church?
Please answer any or all of those parts of the question. We are one body but we are made up of many parts. We need to talk about what God is saying to us so that we know where God is leading us. Please put your responses in the box marked “Ask the Pastor” on the back table in the sanctuary. I will report the information next month. Thank you for your prayers and any answer God gives you.
ASK
THE PASTOR ??…Many
times we all have questions that we don’t have the time or opportunity to ask
the Pastor about directly. Each month
we will select a question at random and pose it to the Pastor. Please e-mail
your questions to sdewwjd@yahoo.com;
you don’t need to include your name. There is a box on the back table in the
sanctuary if you would rather place your questions there or e-mail Pastor
Justin. Keep those questions coming??????

Remembering Mom
To the Mothers that are, the
Mothers the were, the Mothers that will be, the Mothers the should be
A Child Learns to Trust
by Laurie Hays Coffman <><
My mom is my shepherd; I
shall not want. She makes me lie down under cool, downy comforts. She watches
me play beside still waters. She restores my soul
She leads me in paths of
respect, responsibility, and goodness, for I am her namesake!
Yea, even though I walk past monsters in the dark, I
will not be ascared, because my mom is always near me. Her hands and her voice,
they comfort me.
Mama sets the table and
cheerfully calls me to dinner even in front of big, mean bullies.
She anoints my skinned
knees and broken heart with kisses. She smiles and throws me a towel when my
cup runneth over.
Surely God's peace, power, and mercy shall uphold me all the days of my life, for my Mother taught me to dwell in the house of God forever.
MOTHER
I FOUND IT JUST THE OTHER DAY
Mother I want you to know
that I have it But I found it just the other day. Hidden behind all of my
busyness, yet right in plain view. Everyone around me could see it But I found
it just the other day. After I found it, I realized it had been there all the
time. Always growing, taking new shapes, yet never really changing But I found
it just the other day. That's when I stopped all of my busyness, And took a
really good look at it. Then I realized it was yours, oh mine too, you gave it
to me But I found it just the other day. Sometimes you gave it to me knowingly,
Other times by God's divine plan. I know you haven't missed it, you kept as
much as you gave away, But Mother, I found it just the other day. That's it,
that's right, that's exactly what I found I FOUND YOUR BEST, THE VERY BEST OF
YOU MOTHER, I FOUND IT, I FOUND IT IN ME.
In the Valley Where
I Grow
Sometimes life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble, and woe It's then I have to remember That it's in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top And never experienced pain, I would never appreciate God's love And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn And my growth is very slow, Sometimes I need the mountain tops, But it's in the valleys I grow
I do not always understand Why things happen as they do, But I am very sure of one thing. My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing When I picture Christ on the cross He went through the valley of death; His victory was Satan's loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining When I'm feeling so very low. Just give me a gentle reminder That it's in the valleys I grow.
Continue to strengthen me, Lord And use my life each day To share your love with others And help them find their way
Thank you for valleys, Lord For this one thing I know The mountain tops are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow!
Secret
Sisters Revealed
Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 3:00pm
We had
21 ladies participate in the Secret Sister’s program. Everyone was excited to
find out who their secret sister was? We had a great time of fellowship with
lot of “sweets” to eat. One secret
sister surprised her sister with a Surprise Birthday Party! Great job Diana
!Linda had no idea it was you. We also had two sisters, that were secret
sisters! That was fun. Sylvia had Inez as her secret sister. Shirley didn’t like
her secret sister’s hand writing (Jan)!Hope everyone enjoyed having a secret
sister. We will make plans in the fall to do it again. If you did not
participate we do encourage you to plan to join us next time.
